This is the funniest thing I’ve seen in a long time.
“Computer Camp Love” makes me giggle. Mmmyeah. It’s a nice song.

The mixtape is a beautiful thing. Almost everyone has either received or given a lovingly crafted collection of music. Often they are given to friends or lovers. Some are sappy or romantic, others are rowdy and rambunctious. Originally, they were passed around as cassettes, then CDs, and now digital files.
Muxtape.com has brought the mixtape to the Internet age. Now anyone can upload a list of songs to share with others over the Internet. It’s pretty cool and it’s nice when you find a good list.
When I first approached You Follow Me, I thought: I dig Girltar music. I like the soft, confessional style of Girltar and it’s anxious proclivity to talk about human relationships, usually the ones that don’t work. There have been many great Girltarists: Joni Mitchell is my favorite. Joan Baez has a good song or eight. The Indigo Girls took Girltar to the next level by forming a band of two Girltarists. Liz Phair made Girltar rock. Girltar has a great and varied history and frankly I like a lot of it.
I expected to mildly like Nina Nastasia’s dense Girltar song-poems. But something happened. Jim White’s syncopated drumming adds an incredible depth to the emotion of these songs: “Our Discussion” is achingly beautiful. (Honestly, could there be a more classic Girltar song title?) Together they take a familiar musical formula and make something new. Nina and Jim are the Jack and Meg of Girltar.
Now this album is my regular rotation. The sound has gotten in my head and listening to it has all the great satisfaction of scratching an nagging itch.

I don’t know much, but I like this song a lot. I’m not sure what the longevity of a band that wears giant, gimmicky bear heads is. But these guys from Stockholm and Iggy Pop conspired to make one very catchy song.
