Hailing from Newcastle upon Tyne, Lanterns on the Lake (née Greenspace) formed in 2007. Frankly, there doesn’t seem to be a lot of information about the band out there. I can’t find any information about an impending album or any tour dates outside of the UK. But the band’s sparse, yet generous, myspace page contains several songs for download.
Hazel Wilde’s dreamy vocals have the vulnerable and yearning qualities of an insomniac. “This Year” is built around a simple guitar figure that soars and descends as Wilde sings about the hope and pragmatism of changing one’s life. “Caught on the Way” deals with similar themes.
I love the songs the band has released. I hope they will release an album and play in NYC.
